Famous Authors: Daniel Defoe

Back in the early 18th century, Daniel Defoe published his famous Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, which still inspires screenplay variations today. As most readers or students of literature know, this story is about a man marooned on a desert island who sought to maintain his sense of integrity while mastering his new environment. Many children are read portions of the Crusoe story since it contains so many exciting events and characters. Though Defoe didn't begin writing novels until he was nearly 60, he still managed to produce many excellent books.
