This film is one of a ten part series on famous authors. Englishman John Keats had a short but distinguished literary career. Between the ages of 18 and 24, he wrote some of the greatest poetry of the Romantic Age. Keats had studied to be a doctor, and contracted tuberculosis while taking care of his brother, who had the disease. Keats died in Rome of tuberculosis in his 25th year. He left posterity a small body of lyrical poetry and incisive letters. This documentary, written, produced, and directed by Malcolm Hossick, tells the story of Keats' life, using archival documents and commentary to set the man in his times during the early 1820's. Along with Byron and Shelley, Keats represented the second generation of Romantics. His evocative work, in homage to nature, include "To Autumn", and "Ode to a Nightengale".
