Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart authored his legendary singspiel +L'Impresario Teatrale as his formal entry in a February 1786 songwriting contest sponsored by Emperor Joseph II of Austria. The composer set the work to a libretto by Johann Gottlieb Stephanie. The premise concerns a theatrical impresario who inherits all manner of difficulties in trying to assemble a cast of actors and singers, including the difficulty of economic woes. The Orchestra Sinfonica del Festival Euro Mediterraneo mounted this particular version of the work, with a cast including Daniela Barra, Paolo Briguglia, Maria Dragoni and Michetta Farinelli. Enrico Castiglione directs for the stage, while Vincenzo Mariozzi conducts.
