Peter and the Wolf/L'Enfant el les Sortileges

"Sergei Prokofiev originally wrote his 1936 composition +Peter and the Wolf for orchestra and solo narrative voice; inspired by the work, choreographer Matthew Hart made a children's ballet out of it, a 1997 production of which appears in the first half of this box set. The production features Anthony Dowell as the Storyteller/%Grandfather, and is danced by pupils of the Royal Ballet School, with sets designed by Ian Spurling. That production stars David Johnson as Peter, Karan Lingham as Duck, Layla Harrison as Bird, Elizabeth Holliday as Cat and Martin Harvey as The Wolf. The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in London provides symphonic accompaniment under the baton of Paul Murphy. The second half of the box features a 1986 production of Jiri Kylian's unique ballet +L'Enfant et les Sortil?ges, a fantasy-themed opus about a naughty little boy who destroys his books and vandalizes his room - then watches in horror as the room itself comes to life, seeking revenge. This production stars Fran?oise Og?as, Jeanine Collard, Jeanne Berbi?, Sylvaine Gilma, Colette Herzog , Heinz Rehfuss and Camille Maurane. The production is set to music by Maurice Ravel, features sets and costumes designed by John Macfarlane, and features symphonic accompaniment by Paris's Orchestre National."
