Darwin's Lost Paradise

A reverential homage to evolutionary biologist Charles Darwin (1809-82), this documentary program describes how that scientist permanently unseated mankind's belief in being "the firstfruits of God's creation," by arguing that homo sapiens emerged through a lengthy evolutionary process. This film reconstructs many of the events that transpired on board The Beagle, the ship that carried Darwin around the world from 1831-36 and brought about many of his most Earth-shaking insights. A co-production of Germany, Australia and France, this film was shot on location in such exotic milieux as Galapagos and the Keeling Islands.
