Tunes of Glory [Criterion Collection]

"Ronald Neame's handsomely crafted military drama Tunes of Glory comes to DVD with a new digital transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.66:1, and it is also enhanced for widescreen televisions. The DVD image looks clean and it does full justice to the color nuances of Arthur Ibbetson's cinematography. The original English mono soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 1.0 and there are optional white English subtitles. (They come in handy since some parts of the Scottish-accented dialogue are hard to understand.) The additional features include a new exclusive and very informative video interview with director Ronald Neame, a new exclusive audio interview with Sir John Mills, and a rare 1970s TV interview with Sir Alec Guinness, in which he discusses his early career up to Tunes of Glory. Good technical quality and a wealth of supplementary features make it a highly recommended release from Criterion."
