"Randal Kleiser's beautifully photographed cult classic The Blue Lagoon gets top-shelf treatment on this DVD release. The disc offers both a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and a standard full-frame 1.33:1 image. The widescreen transfer captures more of the beautiful locations and is preferable. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround, while a Spanish track has been recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and Thai subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include two commentary tracks -- one by the director, writer, and Brooke Shields, the other by the director and Christopher Atkins. Other bonuses include a Brooke Shields photo album, a ""making of"" featurette, a theatrical trailer, production notes, and talent files. Fans of the film will get everything they could hope for on this release, while fans of gorgeous cinematography will also want to give this fine disc a look."
