The Big Picture

"Before directing a series of mock documentaries that brought him a great deal of critical acclaim, Christopher Guest directed the Hollywood satire The Big Picture. That film is presented in two different transfers on this DVD. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1, and is preferable to the standard full-frame image. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. English and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Guest and star Kevin Bacon. Guest is typically dry, as he usually is on the tracks, but their comments do provide some interesting background on the film. Deleted scenes, filmographies, production notes, and trailers round out this solid release from Columbia/TriStar."
