So Close

"A high-tech Hong Kong sci-fi action flick that's certain to have adrenaline junkies begging for more, Shu Qi, Zhao Wei, and Karen Mok kick into high gear in Columbia Pictures' DVD release of So Close. Charlie's Angels beware, these tough and tech-savvy girls can scrap with the best of them! Presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen the image is clear of debris and obviously comes from a clean, new transfer. Colors are well balanced, skin tones are even, and blacks are solid. Overall, this is a great representation of a remarkably visual film. Though purists will certainly prefer to view the film in its original Cantonese with optional, easy-to-read yellow subtitles, the dubbing on the English-language Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack is respectfully executed, and when the action kicks in, you'll certainly be able to feel every gunshot and explosion with a well equipped sound system. If extra features on this release leave something to be desired, the inclusion of eight trailers (including one for the feature presentation) will at least give action junkies something to look forward to on future Columbia releases."
