I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete Third Season [4 Discs]

"The third season of I Dream Of Jeannie -- the series' second in color -- was mostly notable for the growing goofiness of its plotting which, given the nature of the series, was a virtue. The four DVD edition is transferred cleanly and well in full-screen (1.33-to-1), though the age of the film materials does show through at some moments. The sound has been mastered cleanly if not at a very high volume, and within the limits of what is here, the package is satisfying. But this reviewer suspects, specifically based on one episode -- ""Jeannie, The Hip Hippie"", which co-starred the songwriting/recording team of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, and legendary producer Phil Spector -- that there are still small cuts in some, if not all of these shows. These shows, with their credits complete, should clock in at 26 minutes, and they come up about a minute short, and this reviewer can point to a small cut in the Boyce & Hart segment of the one episode as a specific gap. Beyond that complaint -- admittedly, a significant one -- the disc is reasonably well produced for a release with no bonus features of any kind. Each disc opens automatically to a colorful two-layer menu that includes a play-all option for each side, and the chaptering is adequate, matching the commercial break-points for the episodes."
