Eager to welcome his newborn daughter into the world, family man Matt (Kevin Hart) finds his world torn asunder when his wife inexplicably passes away just one day after giving birth to their daughter. Faced with the prospect of raising his daughter alone, Matt struggles to make peace with the challenges of his past experiences and contend with his grief as a widower if he is to be the father he always dreamed of being.
