The Promise of Music

This unique documentary by South American filmmaker Enrique Sanchez Lansch provides one of the first inside glimpses into Venezuela's revolutionary system of music education, noted for having an outstanding symphony orchestra with a brilliant conductor. Lansch journeys into the heart of the system and profiles its inner-workings, with mini biographical portraits of the various members, reflections on their individual stories and firsthand glimpses of their preparations for the 2007 Bonn Beethoven Festival. As an added bonus, the program features extended footage of a classical concert from the said event, with such pieces as Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Eroica," Jose Pablo Moncayo's Huapango, and Alberto Ginastera's Danza final (Malambo).
