"For three series during the 1970s, and then again years later in the early 1990s, the British actor Barry Foster (best known to many Americans as the 'Necktie Murderer' in Alfred Hitchcock's 1971 Frenzy) headlined the Van Der Valk mystery series on English television. Adapted from the novels of Nicolas Freeling, the program concerned Simon ""Piet"" van der Valk (Foster), a polished detective whose investigations took him to virtually every corner of Amsterdam. Throughout his cases, he received continual support from two parties: his loving French-born wife Arlette (Susan Travers) and his fellow inspector Johnny Kroon (Michael Latimer); many, though not all of the investigations involved homicides. This collection of Van Der Valk episodes contains all seven original episodes from Series Two, originally broadcast in 1973; titles include A Man of No Importance, Season For Love, Rich Man, Poor Man and The Season Ends Here."
