Bill Moyers: Amazing Grace

Originally produced for PBS, Amazing Grace with Bill Moyers is a musical history/documentary of one of the most popular hymns of all time. In the Moyers special, there is speculation that the melody of "Amazing Grace" may have originated as an early American folk song or as one sung by slaves working in the fields. The hymn's powerful words, written in the mid-1700s, are attributed to John Newton. The program includes guest appearances by Judy Collins, Johnny Cash, Jessye Norman, Marion Williams, and the Boys Choir of Harlem.
