High School Record

"Four years after making the rounds of the film festival circuit, Ben Wolfinsohn's independent comedy High School Record has been released on DVD in this edition from the Brooklyn-based film and music imprint Factory 25. High School Record has been transferred to disc in its original aspect ratio of 1.78:1, letterboxed on conventional televisions and enhanced for anamorphic play on 16:9 monitors. While the unfussy visuals are clearly a part of the film's style, the framings look good in this transfer and the images are crisp, with a subtle, naturalistic color balance. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo, and the quality is good though not outstanding. The dialogue is in English, with no multiple language option or subtitles included. A small selection of bonus material is featured: the original theatrical trailer, a handful of deleted scenes and a clip from a television show that inspired one especially curious scene in the movie. High School Record is by no means a masterpiece and this release doesn't treat it like one, but the DVD looks and sounds good and presents the movie in respectful form."
