"Michael Caton-Jones directs Robert De Niro and Frances McDormand in the drama City by the Sea, which comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio of the film. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by producer Matthew Baer and screenwriter Ken Hixon, an interview with the director, and the theatrical trailer. This is a fine disc for what it is, but the same extras are available on a different edition that also carries a widescreen transfer. That version is superior to this one."
