Dressed to Kill

"A decidedly inferior presentation of the Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce Sherlock Holmes series entry, Alpha Video's DVD of Dressed to Kill (1946) looks soft from the opening frames, in which the lettering on the copyright notice is blurred just enough to make it almost unreadable. The rest of the movie is marred by a dupey-looking 16 mm source that is not only slightly blurry but also shows just enough wear to remind the viewer of its flaws every few seconds. The sound isn't terribly sharp, either, and overall, even at a budget price, this disc constitutes a strong case for buying the authorized MPI edition of this movie. The usual six Alpha chapters are present, without any special features of any kind, and the disc opens automatically on a simple two-selection menu."
