Gun Play is among the better "Big Boy" Williams "B"-westerns. Accompanied by comical sidekick Frank Yaconelli Williams rides into a small frontier community. Here he befriends Easterners Madge and George Holt (Marion Shilling, Wally Wales),a brother and sister who've inherited their father's ranch. Outlaws try to force the siblings off the property, thereby laying claim to the gold hidden in them thar hills. But Williams flexes his ham-sized muscles, rescues the pair, and routs the villains. Never too convincing as a "straight" lead, "Big Boy" Williams wisely plays for laughs, a la Hoot Gibson.
