Prince Igor

This stage production from 1981 finds The Bolshoi Opera mounting an interpretation of Russian composer Alexander Borodin's posthumous opera +Prince Igor (1890). The work itself dramatizes the military efforts of Prince Igor Svyatoslavich to fend off the Polovtsians in the late 12th century. The production stars Evgeny Nesterenko as the monarch, as well as Tamara Sinyavskaya and Elena Kurovskaya. Mark Ermler conducts.
