"The Canadian-Kiwi co-production Gold actually constituted not one entity (such as a telemovie or a series) but a sequence of made-for-television films, created in the early 1990s and each woven around the theme of gold prospectors during the 1860s, laboring in the rivers of Central Otago, New Zealand. The central characters are two Canuck emigrant brothers, Connor and Johnny Rogan (Jeremy Ratchford and Yannick Bisson), who have settled in the village of Dunstan with high hopes and big dreams of striking it rich. As time passes, however, the young men discover that their destinies lie in the hands of two locals, Henry Garrick and Lily Owens."
