Pet Sematary

"Based on Stephen King's novel (and scripted by King), Pet Sematary is a haunting tale of obsessive love and the chilling aftermath it can create. Director Mary Lambert (who also helmed the lesser sequel Pet Sematary 2) provides terrifying atmosphere while keeping King's story and characters rich in texture. Pet Sematary features a nicely done 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer as well as a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix (English and French). Picture quality looks excellent, with the Dolby Digital 5.1 track performing well above average. Though Pet Sematary scores high on video/audio, it ranks very low on features. No extra material is included, not even a theatrical trailer, which is usually provided on Paramount DVDs. A commentary track by King or director Lambert would have provided a nice companion piece, or even just a few interviews with cast and crew. For now consumers will have to live with a bare-bones edition and hope for a Pet Sematary special edition somewhere down the road."
