Paper Moon

"Peter Bogdanovich's award-winning Paper Moon comes to DVD with a fabulous widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Laszlo Kovacs' gorgeous black-and-white photography is presented beautifully. The film has never looked better on home video. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Mono. There are neither subtitles nor closed captions on this release. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Bogdanovich. He discusses the making of the film, the allusions to other films he was making throughout the movie, and he explains in layman's terms how the exquisite look of the film was achieved. Three featurettes offer much of the same information as the commentary track, but the deleted scenes that appear during those featurettes are very entertaining. Considering the inexpensive list price of the disc, this Paramount offering is a true value."
