After being given 20 years in prison for armed robbery, career criminal Ida "Red" Walker (Melissa Leo) fears that she won't survive long enough to see through her sentence due to a terminal illness. Intent on staging one last heist, she turns to her son and right hand Wyatt (Josh Hartnett) to help her bring her plans to completion, and to give her a chance to regain her freedom.
