In this John Hughes film, newlyweds Jake (Kevin Bacon) and Kristy (Elizabeth McGovern) Briggs struggle through their new roles as man and wife, until they decide they want to have a baby. When they experience difficulty in conceiving, the Briggs must subject themselves to a series of very unromantic procedures. With Kristy finally pregnant, Jake begins to feel trapped in his new family role and starts to suffer the effects of doubt and temptation.
