Jerry Clower: Classic Clower Power

"Down home" Mississippi-bred comedian Jerry Clower became a comic entirely by accident, telling amusing anecdotes while working as a fertilizer salesman for Mississippi Chemical in the early '50s. Advised that he would make a smashing stand-up act, Clower began recording his stories prior to speaking engagements. One thing led to another, and ultimately, Clower garnered a contract from MCA Records. Over the following three decades, he issued a string of million-selling "country-comedy" records that put him in the ranks of Jeff Foxworthy and Ray Stevens, hosted a Christian-country radio series, and authored several books, prior to his death in 1998 following bypass surgery. The release Jerry Clower: Classic Clower Power combines stand-up routines from his bestselling home videos Jerry Clower Live, Vol. 1 and Jerry Clower Live, Vol. 2, and features such comedy bits as "Growing Up with Marcel," "Selling Fertilizer," "Deer Huntin' With My Grandson," and "What a Pitcher."
