Beat Beat Beat: The Yardbirds

"The Yardbirds were nearing the end of their run following the departure of guitarist Jeff Beck when they traveled to Germany to appear on the television show Beat -- Beat -- Beat, and this DVD release contains the group's recorded performance in full. The four-song set on Beat Beat Beat: The Yardbirds has been presented in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and the image quality is quite good, if a bit dark, and the source video has clearly been handled with care. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo from the original monophonic source recordings and while the sound sometimes reflects the limitations of television facilities in the 1960's, the quality is just fine and this live performance captures the band just as they sounded on the night, with Jimmy Page showing off a few of the tricks he would master when he formed Led Zeppelin. The songs are performed in English, with no subtitles or multiple language features. No bonus materials are included, and serious Yardbirds followers should know these same four songs appear in full on ABC Entertainment's DVD release of The Story Of The Yardbirds, but fans who don't already have this material will be satisfied with the quality of this release."
