The Surface

The chance discovery of an 8mm movie camera at a yard sale prompts an aimless young gay man (Harry Hains) to live out his fantasies of home, family and belonging through the childhood home movies of the camera's middle-aged owner (Michael Redford) and initiates a strange intimate connection between the two men.
