Cop Killers

"Bill Osco, one of the pioneering behind-the-scenes figures in adult cinema (he produced the first full-length hardcore feature), delivered a rare starring performance in this low-budget crime thriller, which makes its DVD debut in this release from Media Blasters' Shriek Show imprint. Cop Killers has been transferred to disc in a widescreen transfer in its original aspect ratio of 1.78:1; the image is letterboxed on conventional televisions, and enhanced for anamorphic playback on 16x9 monitors. The source print shows some serious wear at the beginning and ends of reels and the original photography wasn't especially impressive to begin with, but the transfer makes the most of what's there, and the image is as good as the materials permit. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo (retaining the original monophonic sound mix), and sounds a bit better than the picture looks, though the location sound recording reveals some flaws. The dialogue is in English, with no subtitles or multiple language options included. Bonus materials include an on-camera interview with star Jason Williams in which he talks about his career and how he came to be cast in Cop Killers, an optional commentary track from Williams that covers much of the same ground at greater length, the original theatrical trailer, a very small gallery (two images) of promotional materials, and trailers for other titles available from Media Blasters. This is as good a presentation of Cop Killers as exploitation film fans are ever likely to see, and folks with a taste for outrageous Seventies crime cinema will find it worth their attention."
