Rica

"The Exploitation Digital division of Media Blasters has done well with its disc of Rica. This vintage example of the ""pinky violence"" genre is served up in a nice- looking letterboxed transfer that is enhanced for anamorphic televisions. Some graininess is apparent in spots (particularly during a few scenes involving rippling water) but the image is impressive overall, with solid colors and a good level of detail. The film's original Japanese language mono soundtrack is used for this disc: it sounds fine and is presented with easy-to-read English subtitles. In terms of extras, there is a still gallery and two trailer galleries -- one for the three films in the Rica series and another for four other Media Blasters attractions. A few more extras might have been nice -- it would have been particularly interesting to get some biographical information on Rika Aoki, the Eurasian actress who toplines the film - but this is a quality presentation and worth the time for fans of foreign exploitation films."
