"A touching and tragic tale of unlikely friendship reaching across well-armed borders, Oldboy director Park Chan-wook's politically-charged freshman feature arrives stateside in fine form thanks to the efforts of Palm Pictures. Presented in 1.85:1, the image is overall commendable despite occasionally appearing a bit ""soft"" and dark. Audio is presented in both English and Korean Dolby Surround, with both tracks offering an even, satisfactory sound mix. For English language viewers who prefer to view the film in its original tongue, optional English subtitles are also offered. The first film of Park's to see official DVD release stateside, this disc also features some great bonus materials for those interested in finding out more about the internationally-praised filmmaker. Cast and crew interviews feature the stars and director Park offering their own personal takes on the ongoing tensions between North Korea and South Korea, as well as their experience on the set.
