"A true curiosity in the realm of social conventions, the Education Archives series is alternately disturbing and hilarious. Picking up where the first volume left off, Educational Archives: More Sex and Drugs offers yet another series of cautionary films produced to warn our nation's youth of the dangers posed by fast women and illicit substances. The films are presented in their original full-frame aspect ratios (mastered from the original 16 mm prints), but time has not been kind to the majority of these films. Though they are marred by scratches, debris, and numerous bad edits, it's the haphazard presentation of these films that fuels their earnest charm. In an era in which crystal-clear Dolby Digital audio has become the gold standard for DVDs, the sound here is also somewhat substandard for what viewers may be accustomed to. As with the picture, though, it's precisely this lack of quality that makes these films so endearing and fun to watch as they snap, crackle, and pop through the dangers of social diseases to the crippling effects of marijuana and LSD. In addition to offering 11 classic classroom filmstrips, this collection also includes notes on each film by collection curator Skip Elsheimer and a bonus interactive film strip.
