Co-directors Christian Frei and Maxim Arbugaev's future-gazing documentary explores the ambitious effort to resurrect the woolly mammoth. It follows the efforts of cash-strapped mammoth hunters who look for tusks and carcasses in the thawing permafrost of the New Siberian Islands, as well as cloning researchers in Boston, South Korea, and China who are all invested in the idea of cultivating a mammoth embryo.
