John Zorn's Treatment for a Film in Fifteen Scenes

Anthology's in-residence composer John Zorn designed this avant-garde film work in the early 1980s. Complex and elaborate, it features contributions from a myriad of different directors. Zorn originally conceived it as a list containing 254 individual shots; anticipating Dogme '95, Zorn set up numerous "parameters" for the contributing filmmakers without ever specifically telling them how to approach their subjects or frame their individual images. The resultant product weaves radically different approaches to the medium into a giant cinematic tapestry. Treatment for a Film in 15 Scenes first bowed at the 2011 New York Film Festival, in its 'Views from the Avant-Garde' section.
