Essential Art House: Richard III [Criterion Collection]

Laurence Olivier's third Shakespearean portrayal (following Henry V and Hamlet) chronicles the life of the deranged, mangled 15th-century British ruler Richard of Gloucester, who ascends to the throne following the death of Edward IV (Cedric Hardwicke). Following a series of underhanded dealings, duplicities and murders, Richard is finally overthrown during the climactic Battle of Bosworth.
