In this film, Ganjiro Nakamura plays the head of an itinerant acting troupe whose company sets up shop in a tiny seaside community. Here Nakamura is reunited with his former mistress Haruko Sugimura, whom he hasn't seen in 12 years, and is reintroduced to the son he barely remembers.
