"German filmmaker Veit Helmer's fantasy comedy Tuvalu comes to DVD from First Run Features presented with a widescreen transfer in black-and-white and color. The Dolby Digital Surround Sound is in the original German language, but there is almost no spoken dialogue in the film, so there's no real need for subtitles. This disc includes Helmer's ten-minute short film Surprise, about a guy who creates an elaborate contraption in order to surprise his girlfriend. Other special features include theatrical trailers, photo galleries, and promos for other First Run releases. This is a welcome DVD for an award-winning film that didn't receive much of a theatrical release in the U.S."
