The defining band of the queercore movement, Pansy Division was formed in the early-1990s, when aspiring musician John Ginoli placed an advertisement calling for gay musicians into bands like The Buzzcocks, Ramones, and early Beatles. Ginoli was feeling alienated by the dance and disco music that had proliferated in the gay scene during the last decade of the millennium, and longed to create a band that would stand apart from the pack. Shortly after receiving a response from guitarist Chris Freeman, Pansy Division was formed. In this documentary, filmmaker Michael Carmona chronicles not only the origins of the band, but also their highs, lows, and line-up changes as they gained influence in the rock and roll scene while playing for appreciative fans all over the world.
