" This two-volume documentary package caters to fans of military history, with a sprawling look at the United States Air Force during the 20th Century. The set proceeds chronologically. Volume One, Up and Away: 1907-1942, takes a journey from the birth of the airplane through its use in the Second World War. The story is told in two phases: ""The Beginnings"" - a tale that spans Air Force's conception and early years through the launch of the modernized Air Force in the '30s; and ""The Global Air War,"" which relays the implementation of air power during the first three years of World War II. Volume Two in the set, ""The Giant Unleashed 1943-1960,"" discusses the use of air power during the last three years of World War II, its role as a major international power in 1946, and its subsequent involvement in the Cold War. This half contains two programs: ""The Road to Victory,"" on the WWII-era bombing raids that we carried out against Germany and Japan and our air control of Japanese skies at the time, and ""Korea and the Cold War,"" on our use of airplanes to clamp down on the Communist advance in Korea, and our subsequent formation of the Strategic Air Command."
