Devil Dogs of Nam: Goodbye Vietnam

"Vietnam was far from the most deadly war in U.S. history - World War I, World War II and Korea each claimed many more lives - but it certainly checks in as one of the longest American conflicts, with well over 800,000 marines deployed there by the time of withdrawal in 1975. As produced by the Military Heritage Institute, the documentary miniseries Devil Dogs of Nam: Goodbye, Vietnam travels inside of the conflict with an episode-by-episode examination of the brutal events that transpired in Southeast Asia in the late '60s and early '70s. It enlists a blend of archival footage, historical commentary, veteran testimonies, and much more, and places the strongest thematic emphasis on the individual battles and skirmishes. Episodes include: The Battle of Hue - an account of the longest individual battle of Vietnam, and one of the bloodiest; The Siege of Khe Sanh - a chronicle of a now-famous attack on a fortified marine base located near the boundaries of Laos and North Vietnam; Last Operation, a 56-day conflict now acknowledged as the last major offensive by U.S. Marines in Vietnam; Homecoming, the saga not of a battle per se but of various U.S. Marines returning to their home country, post-conflict; and Goodbye Vietnam, the story of the final hours between South Vietnam's surrender to the North and the final helicopter lift from the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam."
