The Final Battles

The World War II Pacific Theater of Operations extended over the course of the entire 3 1/2 year period of U.S. involvement - from the Battle of Wake Island that occurred simultaneously with Pearl Harbor, through the climactic Battle of Okinawa in April 1945. In between fell many individual skirmishes, some of which wreaked brutality on a level unseen in modern history. The documentary box set The Final Battles explores the Pacific Theater in four distinct stages; each one combines color maps, archival footage and combat clips to relay the story of a particular event. These include: Tinian - Securing the Marianas, Peleliu - A Costliy Mistake, Iwo Jima - Steppingstone to Japan and Okinawa - The Final Battle.
