In "Right Livelihood", a young man visits with his beloved Uncle who discusses with him the ethics of right livelihood. Conduct in accord with these ethics, contends the Uncle, furthers personal growth while at the same time serving the long-term interests of the workplace.

There are twelve ethics along with accompanying corollaries that constitute the ethics of right livelihood. These ethics prescribe a way of working that expands awareness, reduces suffering and refines character; a way of working that calls on the individual to interact ethically and creatively with the organization's vision.

At base, "Right Livelihood" is an examination of the purpose of work.
