U.S.S. Constellation: Battling for Freedom

Follow a young African hunter as he's abducted from his village and forced aboard the Cora, an infamous slave ship, and ultimately comes face to face with the USS Constellation, U.S. Navy vessel charged with interdicting slave ships off the coast of Africa. Though the U.S. slave trade was officially outlawed in 1808, half-a-century later the transatlantic trade was still flourishing. In a bit to stop the flow of slaves out of Africa, the U.S. Navy assembled a modest fleet of ships dubbed the African Squadron. The USS Constellation was the head of that fleet, and this is her story.
