Investigative Reports: Keepers - A Job Behind Bars

In this documentary, part of the Investigative Reports series from A&E, series host and producer Bill Kurtis offers an up-close look at the lives and work of the law enforcement professionals who work in prisons. Each year, nearly one-quarter of prison staff across the country quit their jobs or leave for other reasons, mostly because of the high level of danger and continuous threat of harm. Investigative Reports interviews some of these prison employees, who offer insights into why they subject themselves to the daily fear of working inside the walls shared by the nation's most violent people. Many guards are attacked or killed each year, and prison professionals discuss what actions and precautions are instituted in the prison system to try and limit the number of these acts of violence.
