Great Ships: The Destroyers

Destroyers have been among the most dependable of naval fighting ships in U.S. military history. Their role is multifaceted, as they can provide protection for battleships, amphibious assault vessels, and aircraft carriers, and are also able to attack submarines. Archived film footage shows these ships in action, while former crewmen provide narration.
