Modern Marvels: Mount Rushmore

The singular of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt are captured in astonishing detail on the side of Mount Rushmore. As many tourists know, it took 15 years to finish carving and chiseling out this large granite cliff located in South Dakota. Approximately 350 men worked on this project that was the brainchild of sculptor Gutzon Borglum. Explosives and drills were used extensively to bring this artistic vision into reality. The narrator describes a number of the tragedies and setbacks that occurred during the 15-year construction period.
