The End of August at the Hotel Ozone

This Czech drama takes place immediately after the Third World War. As was predicted, the war has devastated the human race. The story follows nine women who roam the smoldering countryside in search of food and other people. They want to find men so they can begin repopulating the earth. Their leader is an elderly woman. In time, they meet an old man. They promptly slaughter his cow and take the lonely gent up on his offer to stay at his farmhouse. There he feeds them and lets them listen to his phonograph. The women are amazed by it. Later that night, the old leader dies, and the others get ready to leave. Because the man won't part with the phonograph, the women kill him.
