The Dybbuk

Directing legend Sidney Lumet, of course, began his career in the Golden Age of American television, with a number of live broadcasts that featured prominent screen and television actors. One such production was this 1960 adaptation of the Jewish folk tale The Dybbuk. This version of the story stars Carol Lawrence as a young maid possessed by the soul of her late lover. A rabbi turns up to exorcise the demon, and the woman is forced to choose between a netherworld marriage to her dead companion's ghost, and an earthly wedding to a man she doesn't love.
