My Sweet Killer

"The DVD of My Sweet Killer makes the most of what the technicians had to work with. As a low-budget, rather glorified student film by 22-year-old Justin Dossetti, the original filmstock was probably pretty abysmal -- using tail ends of reels or buying surplus film is not unheard of for cost-conscious directors, but the quality is not very good. That would seem to be the case here. Although no boom microphones are visible, the microphone placement in many of the scenes is not advantageous, and there certainly was no money for dubbing. Hence, the digital disc simply reflects the original film, without brightening colors or enhancing sound. The commentary by Dossetti and actor Kirk Harris, who rewrote Dossetti's script, is fun to listen to as they explain how they got particular shots. There are also trailers, an interactive menu, and a short introduction by Dossetti."
