Art of Aikido

In this release designed to teach beginning martial artists the basics of aikido, leading Chinese instructor Dr. Ah Loi Lee shows viewers how to defend themselves by blending their movements with those of their attacker. After a brief warm-up, Lee leads viewers in shikko (knee walking), kneeling defense techniques, bowing etiquette, parrying techniques, locking, throwing, hitting, breakfalling, the 17 basic Randori no Kata (including counters), advanced balance breaking, and rubber knife training. All techniques are shown at normal speed before being broken down through slow motion and freeze frames for the benefit of viewers looking to get the most out of their aikido training.
