NOVA: Ants - Little Creatures Who Run the World

This video from the award winning PBS show NOVA presents a fascinating study of the world of ants. Naturalist Edmund Wilson takes the viewer around the world, from rainforests to deserts, to observe ants in their native habitats. There are leaf-cutter ants, honeypot ants, fire ants, herdsman ants, army ants, as well as more familiar species. They all have in common their traits of cooperation and organization. Their expertise is such that even the U.S. Department of Defense studies the humble ant to learn about warfare techniques. Then, the home naturalist is invited to create an ant colony with the Uncle Milton's Ant Farm.
